The clean-tech fund has clinched $265m in an initial round of fundraising led by Siemens. Masdar officials say its focus will be building a diversified venture-capital and private-equity portfolio that brings together the world’s most “promising and pioneering” clean-tech and renewables companies.

It will invest primarily in expansion and later-stage companies within three sectors: clean energy, including power generation and energy storage; environmental resources, including water and waste management; and energy and material efficiencies.
