Total new investment into the clean-energy space ran at $59.6bn, a 24% jump on the first quarter of the year – albeit 18% below the near-record $72.5bn in the second quarter of 2011.
Solar accounted for more than 56% of all new investment, with the growth of rooftop PV installations shifting the market’s centre of gravity away from large-scale projects, according to latest figures from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF).
