India plans to add 29.8GW of renewable capacity in the next five years – more than double the 12.4GW it targeted for the 2007-2011 period.
This would take the country’s total clean-energy capacity to 53GW in 2017, from the 23.2GW currently in place.
The targets are part of India’s 12th Five-Year Plan for its economy, which runs between 2012 and 2017.
