Washington accuses Beijing of using government cash and influence to support the development of renewable-energy products to foist on foreign markets. The home of the free wants markets to decide who will be the winners and losers in any forthcoming low-carbon economy.
Yet there is ample evidence to suggest that political leadership is vital in the battle against climate change. Unless presidents and prime ministers drive their countries towards the green economy, the transition is not going to happen.
