The so-called global renewable energy standard (G-RES) would parallel similar targets set in Europe and nearly 40 US states. A national renewable energy standard, a top priority for industry lobbyists in the US, looks unlikely to be voted on in the current lame duck session of Congress, and would have to find space on the agenda of the incoming lawmakers to go forward.
