Hudak, speaking at the Ontario Power Summit in Toronto, also pledged to end the deal Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty brokered with Samsung, which gives the Korean industrial conglomerate preferential access to transmission in exchange for a massive 2.5GW renewable energy development and manufacturing investment programme.
The Conservative position is no surprise, but Hudak’s statements draw a clear battle line in Ontario, which has become a top renewable energy market thanks to McGuinty’s policies.
