The Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) – one of two permanent subsidiary bodies to the Conference of the Parties (COP) – has formally decided to punt its decision on the CCS question until COP16 in Mexico next year, or perhaps even COP17 in South Africa in 2011.
A text released by the SBSTA says that while a number of countries have been making the case that CCS meets the objectives and criteria of the CDM, “other parties have registered concern regarding the implications of this possible inclusion”.
