With the funds in hand, C-Power immediately signed off on an order for 48 REpower turbines rated at 6.15MW each, to be installed during two construction blitzes planned for the summers of 2012 and 2013.
The first 30MW phase of Thornton Bank comprises six REpower 5MW machines, and has been feeding the Belgian grid from its perch 30km off the coast of Oostend since June 2009.
