The programme, introduced in December 2008 to boost PV capacity on residential rooftops, was intended to be phased out over a four-year period starting in July 2012. The wind-down period will now begin in July 2011.
The subsidy is bad value for ratepayers given the falling cost of PV modules, says climate change minister Greg Combet.
The change will save the average household A$12 ($11.56)
