ABB adds 320kV North Sea converter

ABB has switched on a new super-high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter station in northern Germany for transmission system operator (TSO) TenneT that could eventually channel as much as 800MW of offshore wind power generated in the North Sea into the national grid.
