The project was to be sited on Romney Island, set between Eton and Windsor in the river Thames, and would have generated around 1.4 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of green electricity each year.
“It has become apparent that there are significant challenges in making this project a viable asset within npower renewables’ rapidly expanding portfolio,” the company says.
This is the second time the project has collapsed due to unfavourable cost projections.
