The new line will double interconnection capacity between France and Spain, and make a major contribution to mitigating the impact of intermittency caused by the growing weight of wind power in Spain’s power generation mix.

The companies will execute the €700 m project through a joint venture called Inelfe (Interconexión Eléctrica Francia-España), which has now been given the go-ahead to start tendering for the different parts of the project.
