Financial terms were not released.
The agreement includes potential financial support for Hawaii-based Hoku Corporation , a subsidiary of Tianwei, which is building a polysilicon manufacturing facility in Pocatello, Idaho. Hoku expects that plant to eventually create 500 jobs in the US.
The deal came in conjunction with a state visit by Chinese President Hu Jintao to the US.
Tianwei claims to have global manufacturing capacity of 500MW each for silicon wafers, photovoltaic cells and PV modules.
