The engineering, procurement and construction contract is worth $61.4m, Ormat says, boosting the company's product backlog to $260m.

EGP, a unit of the Italian utility giant Enel, purchased the non-operational plant in 2007 and plans to build out a new facility at the geothermal field, located 281km south of Salt Lake City.

The first phase is targeted for commercial operation by the end of 2013, according to the company's website.
