German onshore wind power ended a tough 2020 on a high note with the year’s first oversubscribed technology-specific tender.

The final national auction of the year closing 1 December produced 96 bids totaling 657MW against a 366MW tender volume, said federal network agency BNetzA, which awarded 400MW at an average €59.10/MWh ($72.10/MWh).

The German onshore sector has struggled all year to generate enough bids to meet tendered volume, both in technology-specific auctions and in mixed tenders with solar PV.
