Iberdrola aims to double its operating renewable energy capacity to 60GW by 2025 as green power takes the biggest share of €75bn ($88bn) of investments planned over the next six years, in what its CEO said was an ambition based on a massive pipeline, not "dreams or pieces of paper".

The Spain-based global giant said the enlarged renewables base, up from 32GW at the end of 2019, will see it operating 26GW of onshore wind, 4GW offshore, 16GW of solar and 14GW of hydropower.
