Stimulus packages against the economic slump triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic have helped a surge in green hydrogen projects across the world, with utility-scale developments (of more than 1MW) now topping 60GW, Rystad Energy said.

The overwhelming majority of those projects, or 87%, are for gigawatt-scale plants to produce hydrogen from renewable sources via electrolysis, with Europe and Australia dominating the global pipeline, according to the analysts.
