The UK government has dampened expectations that it has already decided to use a separate contracts for difference (CfD) technology 'pot' to support the early deployment of floating wind, with a final verdict on the issue not expected until October.

Energy secretary Alok Sharma and the director general energy transformation and clean growth at the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Julian Critchlow appeared to confirm they were planning a separate pot during a House of Commons Environmental Audit Select Committee hearing held late last week.
