Oil company Equinor is planning to build the world's largest offshore wind farm off the coast of Brazil — a country that is yet to approve a single offshore wind project.

The Norwegian state-owned energy giant has applied for an environmental permit to build the 4-4.66GW Aracatu project in two phases — each consisting of 160 12-16MW turbines on monopile foundations in water depths of 15-35 metres — 20km off the southeastern states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo.
