Vestas is reaping the fruit of establishing a separate service business unit in 2014, and having acquired large independent service providers (ISPs) 2015 and 2016, which has given the OEM a head-start in the servicing wind turbines from rival manufacturers, according to the executive vice president for Vestas Global Service.

“Our approach was to acquire the ISPs early on, and that has given us a first-mover advantage in the multibrand sector, which we are capitalising on right now,” Christian Venderby said in an interview with Recharge as the company reached the milestone of having 100GW of turbines under service, 8GW of which are non-Vestas machines.
