New onshore wind installations in Germany doubled during the first half of 2020 from the same period a year earlier, but remained at a level deemed far too low by the wind industry.

Gross additions reached 591MW during the first half, up from 287MW a year earlier. Once decommissioned turbines are subtracted, net additions during the period reached 507MW, bringing the country’s cumulated wind power capacity to 54.4GW.
