Congress has decided not to include a provision in a bill to expand the century-old Jones Act to require that construction at sea be carried out using US-flagged installation vessels, Recharge understands, eliminating wording that could have placed as much as 14GW of offshore wind projects at risk.

The House of Representatives Rules Committee's exclusion of the language involved an amendment to the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act that the Senate is expected to approve, possibly later this month.
