The UK government has launched a far-reaching review into the existing offshore transmission system regime to address the barriers it presents to the further deployment of offshore wind, as the country pursues a fourfold expansion in offshore capacity to 40GW by the end of this decade.

The UK Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is leading the review, launched by energy minister Kwasi Kwarteng.
