Utility SSE told Ireland’s new government it needs to move swiftly to spur developments such as the 520MW second phase of the Arklow Bank if the nation wants to hit newly-increased offshore wind targets.

In a letter to Irish minister for climate action Eamon Ryan, the company said he should finalise arrangements for auctions and grid connections to help developers hit a goal of 5GW deployed by 2030, up from a previous ambition for 3.5GW.
