Global renewable energy giant Enel expects to begin first green hydrogen production from wind or solar plants within a year, with Chile, the US and Spain early candidates to host electrolysers, said a senior executive who labelled any H2 not produced from renewables “a trick”.

Enel is actively looking for opportunities to co-locate electrolysers with its vast onshore wind and solar fleet – 12.6GW
