Germany’s cabinet today approved a national hydrogen strategy that sets targets for the ramp-up of a massive production of green H2 produced from domestic renewable energy sources, as well as large-scale imports from the EU and beyond.

On top of billions in already existing funding for research and pilot projects, the government has earmarked €9bn ($10.2bn) in fresh support – €7bn for the ramp-up of hydrogen technologies in Germany and another €2bn for partner countries (for example for projects to build up an H2 infrastructure in Morocco that was presented today).
