The giant Viking wind power development in Scotland can proceed without waiting for another shot at a UK government power deal after losing out in auctions last year, Britain’s energy regulator Ofgem has told Recharge.

The 457MW project on the island of Shetland – which aims to be “among the world’s most productive onshore wind farms” – lost out in the UK’s 2019 Contract for Difference (CfD) round, with another auction not due until next year.
