The US clean energy sector could lose 500,000 jobs because of coronavirus disruption, with wind and solar developers facing “sudden and massive financing issues” in the coming weeks, said American industry bodies as they released new research on the pandemic’s impact.
Covid-19 has already led to the loss of 106,000 jobs in March alone, wiping out a year of employment gains in 2019, according to analysis of sectors including renewables, energy efficiency and storage.
