Offshore wind power could expand seven-fold to reach some 200GW of installed plant by the end of the decade, as new markets join Europe and China in developing the fast-industrialising energy sector, according to figures in a new report from the UK’s Energy Industries Council (EIC).

But the EIC report flags that the rapid swell of projects being added to the pipeline are raising “concerns on the supply chain’s ability to meet global demand”, particularly for vessels, skilled labour and fabrication yard capacity.
