In German, complex lines of thought can be boiled down to single (composed) words. One of these is Energiewende — meaning the country’s transition from nuclear and fossil to renewable energy.

Recently, a new word is entering the vocabulary: Ökostromlücke — literally “eco power gap”, a reference to the discrepancy between the renewable power needed to meet certain targets and what is expected under current policies.
