France’s EDF has finalised agreements with China Energy Investment Corp (CEIC) over setting up a joint venture for $1.1bn of offshore wind development in China, marking the first foreign investment in the country's offshore sector.

The two companies recently signed off the joint venture and equity stake agreements online amid disruption caused by the coronavirus outbreak, after securing approval from China’s state-owned Asset Supervisory and Administration Commission (Sasac) in late January, Recharge has learned.
