The prototype of the giant offshore turbine that is in the frame for a near-1GW international order pipeline, including several key floating wind projects off Europe, is up and turning at Denmark’s National Test Centre in Østerild.
MHI Vestas’ V174-9.5MW, which was launched in February with an order for Iberdrola’s 476MW Baltic Eagle project off Germany, will now start a programme of reliability and performance trials ahead of its first commercial projects.
