A big-hitting offshore wind industry-led coalition has been formed to advance an international ocean energy transition strategy that would cut annual greenhouse gas emissions by almost 10%, to help keep global temperature to 1.5ºC above pre-industrial levels by 2050.

The Ocean Renewable Energy Action Coalition (OREAC) – which includes developers Ørsted, Equinor, Shell, Mainstream Renewable Power and JERA – is preparing a “vision” document that will focus on actions that can be taken by industry, financiers and governments to “sustainably scale-up” the worldwide offshore wind build-out to contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and global decarbonisation.
