Xabier Viteri, who joined Iberdrola in 1994, became chief executive of Iberdrola Renovables in 2006. He is in overall charge of Iberdrola’s global renewable energy business, but with a new focus on wind and solar in its domestic market, gave Recharge his perspective on Spain.

What is your overall level of ambition for renewables development in Spain during the coming decade, and how will the portfolio break down between new wind and solar projects?

We are undertaking a major strategy to relaunch renewables development in Spain where we are aiming to deploy around 3GW of clean energy by 2022, and up to 10GW by 2030.
