Dutch utility Eneco has signed a deal to purchase all power produced by the GE Renewable Energy Haliade-X prototype now turning in the Netherlands’ Port of Maasvlakte-Rotterdam, as the 12MW turbine set a new record for production over 24 hours by pumping out 262MWh – enough to supply 30,000 homes with electricity.

The deal, which also involves Future Wind the joint venture between Dutch compatriots Pondera Development and SIF that is operating the flagship machine, leads off a five-year testing programme to validate the Haliade-X’s power curve, loads, grid performance and reliability.
