Dan Brouillette was sworn in as US secretary of energy in a White House ceremony and later issued a statement praising President Donald Trump’s energy policies, noting that America is the world’s second-largest generator of wind and solar power.

Those policies “have led to a historic era in American energy,” he said. Brouillette, who served as deputy to predecessor Rick Perry since 2017, was confirmed last week by the US Senate with a 70-15 vote.
