Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Energy leads all US utility groups in wind power capacity under construction or in advanced stages of development with 3.56GW through the third quarter, edging out Xcel Energy’s 3.33GW, according to latest American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) figures.

Berkshire had about 2.89GW of capacity under direct ownership by MidAmerican Energy and PacifiCorp, its principal utilities with wind energy on their systems, and 680MW under long-term contract.
