Vineyard Wind’s shareholders have “affirmed a commitment to deliver” an 800MW wind project off the Massachusetts coast but with a revised schedule, citing the surprise Friday decision by a federal agency to delay publication of a final environmental study necessary for construction start this year.

In a lengthy statement, Vineyard acknowledged the “original timeline is no longer feasible” after the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) surprised the developer and nascent industry more broadly, while angering its supporters and elected state officials, by abruptly announcing a change in regulatory policy.
