François de Rugy, France’s minister for ecologic and solidary transition, has confirmed plans by the government to raise the country’s offshore wind target to 1GW per year, up from an average allocation of about 750MW per year planned by 2024 so far.

The ministry said that several projects already launched will begin to address the higher target, including a 1GW array off the Normandy region, which will soon be the subject of public debate.
