After six years in the hot seat as Vestas CEO, Anders Runevad could be forgiven some personal reflection amid the usual number-crunching of the wind giant’s quarterly results conference call with financial analysts.

“I’m turning 60 next year and from a personal point of view, I’m looking forward to controlling my own time a little bit,” said Runevad, the morning after announcing he will step down as CEO in August, to be replaced by Henrik Andersen, who’s moving over from the top job at coatings group Hempel (see panel below).
