France will consider staging bigger offshore wind tenders than currently planned – both fixed-foundation and floating – if the sector can beat government price targets in early competitive auctions, said a top official at the country’s energy ministry.

The government is assessing the possibility of larger tender volumes than those set out in a draft version of France’s national energy plan (PPE), said Laurent Michel, director general of the energy and climate change unit at the Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition.
