India will not hit its national solar target of 100GW by 2022 and the country’s local-content PV programme is irrational, wrong and based on “emotional thinking”, the founder and chairman of the National Solar Energy Federation of India tells Recharge.

Pranav Mehta, who is also chairman of the Global Solar Council, said he predicts the final figure for solar in India by 2022 to be somewhere between 60GW and 80GW.
