The Nordic countries are leading the way into a future where subsidy-free onshore wind will be the norm, Vestas Northern and Central Europe president Nils de Baar told Recharge.

“We believe all markets will go through the same transformation from having a regulated feed-in tariff, to going into auctions – which we see now in a majority of markets – [before] ending up in merchant environments,” de Baar said in an interview ahead of the WindEurope exhibition and conference that kicks off in Bilbao on Tuesday.
