The US offshore wind industry will generate $68.2bn in supply contracts through 2030 if all 18.6GW of forecast contracted power capacity along the east coast gets built, according to a new University of Delaware (UD) white paper.

The biggest capital expenditure will be for more 1,700 turbines and towers valued at $29.6bn, then $16.2bn for more than 1,750 turbine and substation foundations, UD’s Special Initiative on Offshore Wind (SIOW) estimates.
