As the UK confirmed the opening date of its next contract-for-difference (CfD) support round as 29 May, the renewables sector is waiting to see the outcome of a review that could shape future auctions into the 2020s in the world’s largest offshore wind market.

The latest CfD process aims to contract up to 6GW of capacity from sources including offshore and remote island onshore wind, and follows a plunge in costs to as low as £57.50/MWh
