The levy to finance the expansion of renewables in Germany – the EEG surcharge – will in 2019 decline for a second consecutive year but costs of financing offshore wind grid links will rise, probably meaning that the country’s already-high electricity prices stay relatively flat.

The EEG surcharge will fall to €0.06405 ($0.0742) per kilowatt hour of electricity in 2019, down from the €0.06792/kWh
