German utility Innogy and oil giant Shell will link with Stiesdal Offshore Technologies (SOT) to build a floating wind demonstrator off Norway based on the latter’s modular TetraSpar foundation concept and topped with a 3.6MW Siemens Gamesa turbine.

The two corporate majors will each take 33% of a project company set up to deploy the floating unit in 2019 at Norway’s Metcentre demonstration site at a cost of €18m ($20.7m).
