The US federal government has concluded that the Icebreaker Wind offshore project in Lake Erie would not have an adverse environmental impact, a critical step for what could become the first offshore wind farm in the Great Lakes.

Icebreaker, developed by the non-profit Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo) alongside Norway’s Fred Olsen Renewables, is still waiting for its final approval from the state of Ohio, which could come later this year.
