Enel X, the advanced energy services division of Italy’s Enel group, has folded its US subsidiary EnerNOC into the Enel X brand, with the company betting that demand response will be a big money-spinner as the global penetration of renewables rises.

Enel acquired Boston-based EnerNOC last year in a $250m deal as it rolled its various non-core businesses into one entity, encompassing future-oriented areas like batteries and electric-vehicle charging infrastructure.
