Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft has signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 31 wind turbines in six community wind farms in Germany, whose support under the EEG scheme will expire after 2020.

The PPAs for 42MW of capacity are a novelty in the German energy industry as for the first time wind farms in the country will continue to be operated in the long term after the expiry of EEG subsidies instead of dismantling them.
